  • Lately my days revolve around “Mommy can I have another snack?”...It may feel like groundhogs day, but at the same time I know I won’t get this time back. .

  • I was supposed to be kicking off my busy and almost full 2020 season this weekend with a few family sessions...but alas, here we are. Still at home.
Starting on week 4 of #quarantinelife and no end in sight. Thank God for Tiger King tho, Amiright?! Some may not know this, but I have a full time job on top of my photography, the last few weeks have blended together and become groundhogs day as my husband and I try and figure out how to navigate working from home and managing a very busy toddler full time. It’s exhausting. I’m OVER the days by the time Ro’s bedtime rolls around. My love, my passion, my business has to be put on hold until we figure out how to squash this whole Covid 19 madness. I know some photographers have done front porch sessions, but somehow that doesn’t feel like the right thing to do during these times. While we all need hope and happiness, so many people’s lives are at stake (on top of alllll the amazing essential workers putting their life on the line to fulfill basics needs and take care of our sick) At the same time, I was sooooo looking forward to meeting my new families and seeing repeat families again just as spring was springing up in Portland.
I’ve been struggling with the right thing to say or do here on my feed, but I do want to emphasize that this shit is hard. No matter if you have kids at home driving you bonkers (🙋🏼‍♀️) or can’t spend time with family...or hell, maybe you’re just damn lonely. I’ve gone through 800 emotions every day for the past three weeks. What’s getting you through this? For me, it’s the 🌞 in the forecast this week and the swingset that’s on its way as we’re desperate for any way to get the wiggles out of our 2.5 year old!
In the meantime, trying to pick up my camera daily and capture #lifeinquarantine. I sure don’t do enough of that...Want to see more? less? Memories of “BQ” (before quarantine)? Tell me what you want!
  • This past fall, I planted about a hundred various bulbs in the front of our new house. It had been a rough year personally and busy with life and such. I knew we were just about to settle into winter, which can feel so, so long here in the PNW. Part of what gets me through is that I love the site of a true spring, when blossoms start bursting and bulbs start springing. Spring literally springs.
I didn’t expect to see snow covered blooms, a week before spring break.
We’re in a wild ride here, folks. I know many people who’s sole income is in limbo. I know parents who are terrified of their high risk children, children of any age. I know this is unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.
I don’t know what lies ahead, but the best advice rings true. Love one another, hold those close to you (after you’ve all lathered yourselves in sanitizer), be kind, practice patience, and hold on.
We’re all in this together.
  • I have no caption to say other than I’m so so happy we have a streak of sunshine this week.
Speaking of sweet sunshine, how sweet is this family?! I adore they are a boarding family and how fitting a longboard was!! More sessions like this please!!
  • This family was not only a straight up modern day Gap ad but it also made my heart melt at how cuddly these kids were with their mama . It gives me hope that Ro will still want “mama hold you” when she’s 6,7,8,...18. These are the days. Breathe them in.
Thank you @broodandtribe for this awesome modern portrait setup and for @brandynicholsphoto and fam for bringing straight up 🔥 and ❤️. Now go tune into Brandys stories today...she preaching to all you Mamas our there. Myself included!!#getinthepicture
