questions?

  • Tell me about you.

I’m the person who hits the snooze button about 5 times before getting out of bed, but punctuality is important to me. I’m a “need coffee before I start anything” kind of person. I keep myself beyond busy most days, but treasure the rare day I have nothing on the calendar. I usually fill it with something having to do with photography or the outdoors. My husband and I are obsessed with our dogs. I like to take on, and exceed at, most culinary challenges. I belt out songs while driving, but typically on when I’m by myself. I cry at most of my weddings, typically the ceremony and the speeches. I wish it snowed in Hawaii because then that would be Heaven on Earth for me, no matter how contradictory that is.

  • Most importantly, there are a MILLION photographers in Portland. Why should I choose you as my photographer?

Well, that’s easy! I’m AWESOME! Hahaha! I have a passion for people and capturing the moments they want to remember as well as those they didn’t expect to remember. You know that moment where your son is making a ridiculously silly face at the photo shoot and you’re almost embarrassed? I’m going to capture it. The moment where you tear up the first time seeing your husband on your wedding day? I’m probably tearing up as I snap away there, too. When your partner is dreading family photo day because they hate being in front of the camera? I’m here to get them to relax and feel comfortable. I’m an experienced wedding, family and portrait photographer. I’ve seen it all! Photography is my craft and I’m constantly trying to master it. I believe in having the best equipment, continuing photography education, keeping a network of photographers to learn from and help out in a pinch. Most importantly, I believe YOU, my client, are the most important part of my business from the first email until you have your prints or album in hand. I’m always available and am here to help you relax and enjoy your portrait experience!

  • Do you book appointments outside the Portland Metro Area?

Absolutely! I can meet you and your family at any location of your choice. This can be a great way of getting some shots while everyone is together enjoying themselves on a day out or vacation, especially in a favorite location!  The Oregon coast and Mount Hood are both popular choices close to Portland and are some of my favorite locations as well!  I do travel up to DuPont, Washington and Southern California often, so please contact me if you are interested in a shoot in those areas. Also, keep an eye out for “seasonal mini sessions” where I will feature a certain location at no additional travel cost.

  • Do you shoot weddings? What about newborns in cute little hats? Pets? My extended family reunion of 150 people?

I have limited availability for 2016 and am booking for 2017, so please contact me to discuss pricing on weddings and other specialized sessions! If there is a session you would like that I do not specialize in, I am happy to recommend other local photographers that can best suite your needs. And dogs? Have you met me?? Um, I’m slightly obsessed with my own puppy, so yes, dogs always welcome!

  • When do you book sessions?

I have a “day job” during the week (that I love!), so I currently schedule shoots in the evening during the week. Weekends can be anytime, as long as I have an available day. I prefer to schedule sessions very early in the morning or in the evenings just before sunset as the light is best at that time. Please contact me for availability!

  • Great! I found a date and time that works for both of us. What do I need to do in order to book a session with you?

In order to secure a date, I require the session fee of $175 which holds your date. I also require a signed contract which explains cancellation policies, copyright information, etc. The remainder of the fee is due on or before the session date. For weddings, a 50% retainer is due upon booking.

  • What are my payment options?

To book a session, you can pay by credit card via PayPal or check. For the remaining balance, you may pay credit card via Square, check, or cash the day of the session.

  • Do you have a location that you like to shoot at or do I have to come up with somewhere?

First of all, the session is about YOU! I want the session to reflect the kind of feel you’d like in your photos. Maybe it’s at a beautiful park, maybe an edgy downtown building, and maybe it’s even your home. I feel comfortable in any lighting situation and I will work with you to make sure the session has the look and feel you are hoping to achieve! I do have a number of favorite locations that I am happy to suggest in the Portland area.

  • How soon will I see my pictures after the shoot?

Within 2 weeks of your portrait session, I will email you with a password to access your private online gallery. All the photographs from your session (usually more than promised! ) will be visible here, and the gallery will remain online for 2 months. The gallery is a beautiful way of viewing your images and choosing which ones you would like to select for your digital images, or order as prints. Your pictures can be viewed as a full screen slideshow and you can share your gallery with friends and family via email, Facebook or twitter.

Wedding galleries are available within 4-6 weeks, but of course, I know what it’s like to wait for photos, so I will deliver occasional sneak peeks for you to show off!
