Emily + Taylor – Portland, Oregon Engagement Photographer

What do you do when you’re a photographer who compulsively checks the weather days before every session then see nothing but showers in the forecast, even up until an hour before the session, there has been nothing but buckets of rain? You text the couple and agree to chance it, put on your rain boots, cross your fingers and say a little prayer in your car while the rain impales your car on your way to the shoot, of course! Whatever we did, it worked! The skies dramatically opened up and Sauvie Island became a dream location for me to shoot engagement photos of Emily and Taylor!

This shoot was extra special for me, as Emily and I went to HIGH SCHOOL together! That’s the thing I loved about going to our all girl-high school; you make friends for life and can always bond over your hatred of Sue Mills! We haven’t seen each other since…all those years ago…but we both landed up in the land of rain and have both fallen in love with it! I’ve followed the love story of her and Taylor thanks to Facebook. They are TOO cute for words! She humors him and goes backpacking with him, while he gladly puts down his Backpacker magazine and attends musicals for her.  I also happened to learn that Taylor is quite the comedian, as demonstrated by offering “creative” photo suggestions of hiding in corn and such. We had so much fun and practically had the entire pumpkin patch to ourselves! They’re quite a cute pair and I’m so excited to photograph their wedding next April!

If the breathtaking sky that day is any indication of their future, I’d say they’re in for a beautiful life together! Congratulations Emily and Taylor! Best wishes the next 6 months before the big day! Now, let’s just hope that weather holds up!
