“Marriage is a mosaic you build with your spouse. Millions of tiny moments that create your love story.”— Jennifer Smith
So, I guess it’s been a while since I hit the “post” button here on my blog…my apologies! I haven’t put my camera down by any means, but life has gotten a little crazier since I started a new position at my day job back in January! A good kind of crazy, but busy nevertheless. I did put my camera to use on some really fun family sessions earlier in the year, along with a few April weddings! I also got a chance to go to NYC in March, so you KNOW I was excited to bring my camera (and new lens!) along for the ride! I’ll be sharing those, as well! In the meantime, I want to share a very special wedding where I was honored to be the wedding photographer for last month. Not only are they a great couple, but Sarah and Michelle will be my future sister-in-laws, so being able to capture their day in detail meant so much to me!
This post comes at a rather momentous time for Oregon’s history and something near and dear to my heart. Today, the ban on gay marriage was overturned, meaning same-sex marriage is now legal in the state of Oregon! Maybe I’m hopping on my soapbox a little, but to me, a marriage is about commitment, passion and respect through even the most difficult of times. No one could argue that same-sex couples, like Sarah and Michelle, don’t share these same values, so they deserve the same rights as any other couple willing to make the commitment of marriage. As of today, ALL couples across the state of Oregon can now publicly declare their commitment to their partner, fairly and equally. This is a huge win!
Sarah and Michelle held their wedding on the 5th anniversary of their first date which was so sweet! You know my soft spot for those unique DIY details and they certainly did a great job with their re-purposed wine bottles turned vases, the shawls created by a sister/bridesmaid, and their personalized Mad Lib’s filled out by guests (which had me laughing so hard I was crying when I was filling them out!) Her brother (my fiance!) officiated, her dad played live music during cake time, and I got to be their photographer! It was truly a family affair with a family I’m proud to be a part of. I’m pretty sure there were a few of us (myself included) who shed tears when they recited their vows.
Congratulations Sarah and Michelle! I know you’ll have a wonderful life together, filled with lots of love and laughter!

One of my favorite wedding photos. Love.
This was a pretty common site-old friends sharing a TON of laughter throughout the night.
Yes, Michelle and the bridal party DID happen to boogie down the aisle!
Sarah has her BA in American Sign Language Studies and is a professional Sign Language Interpreter, so it was awesome that their had an interpreter for a few guests throughout the evening!

This cake was delicious! I was shocked to find out it was not only gluten free but DAIRY free?! Yum.
A final shot of the night…great family, great friends, GREAT WEDDING Sarah + Michelle!
