This year was anything but easy, in ways we all share and in ways that were unique to us. What would we tell ourselves if we could go back to January? How would it change things? Change us? Would we want it to?
This year, I started pretty well booked by the end of January. I was onto a record number of weddings; things were looking good! Then…you know the rest of the story. My season didn’t start until June 15th. I purposefully took off January and didn’t have anything in February as that’s usually the quietest time for us PNW photographers. Six months until 2020, I started, and it has been a steady, wonderful flow since then. I am truly grateful. This year has challenged me in ways I didn’t know I was ready for, but the universe, she…finds a way. I’m saying goodbye to corporate life and hello to full-on self-employment. It’s scary but exhilarating to realize that the future is in my hands. I wasn’t ready for that until now, and while the timing isn’t the way I had planned, I know life has a funny way of working out.
The last session of the year was last week, on the most perfect yet COLDEST day yet. Callie and Jeff were up for an adventure maternity session and trusted me to bring a vision to life. It’s a rare treat to go out to the Columbia River Gorge, so when I get the chance to go out there, my heart skips a happy beat! Callie has wonderful style, but wasn’t sure what to wear at 30+ weeks pregnant, so she used my client’s closet for a dress that was the perfect choice for this jaw-dropping scenery. The sun was at peak perfection and the wind was bone chill but but beautiful. Mr. B came along, dressed in his perfect attire, and stole the show a few times. All the forces came to be and I danced a little while I was culling these photos. This. This is what has kept me going, this is what has allowed me to unleash my creativity, this is the thing that fills my bucket. This adventure maternity session was just what I needed.
It was an honor to be a part of this milestone with these two!! I know the little girl is going to be so very loved. She’s also going to know football better than all the boys in her class!! #shegetsitfromhermama
