This year was anything but easy, in ways we all share and in ways that were unique to us. What would we tell ourselves if we could go back to January? How would it change things? Change us? Would we want it to? This year, I started pretty well booked by the end of January. I was onto a record number of weddings; things were looking good! Then...you know the rest of the story. My season didn't start until June 15th. I purposefully took off January and didn't have anything in February as that's usually the quietest time for us PNW photographers. Six months until 2020, I started, and it has ... read more
Hoyt Arboretum Family Session
It's never lost of me how important family photos are, it's the reason why I started this business in the first place! This family has NEVER had their photos professionally taken. Needless to say, it was quite an honor to be able to capture them in a fun, natural way while up at the lovely Hoyt Arboretum last month! This family session at Hoyt Arboretum was a reminder of why I love this place. There are few places on the west side with these views. It is also dog friendly, which worked well to this handsome pup who this family is clearly head over heels for! The fall leaves had just started ... read more
SUMMIT GROVE LODGE WEDDING – MOLLY + SPENCER
The other day I was talking to a coworker about her upcoming wedding that she's been planning for almost a year. "I still have 4 months left and now it feels like I'm just waiting around!" she exclaimed and then sighed. Now, I'm all for taking as long as you need for an engagement (my husband and I were engaged about 8 months before our wedding) but I love it when couple's also say "Let's just do the dang thing!" This is exactly the route Molly and Spencer chose! They were engaged in late April and had the date set for early August. It all worked out so perfectly and all the right vendors ... read more
Alicia + Anthony: The Victorian Belle Portland Wedding
I'm so excited to share a sneak peek at this NE Portland wedding! You know the wedding is going to be amazing when the engagement photos were an adventure that included sliding down coastal sand cliffs, walking barefoot on boulders to get close to crashing ocean waves and so much laughter and smiles you feel like you've known the couple for ages. Enter Alicia and Anthony, the sweetest couple who I've know how the pleasure to get to know for almost 18 months. The two chose such a gorgeous NE Portland wedding venue, The Victorian Belle, a historical victorian house with luscious gardens and ... read more
Portland Birth Photography – Welcome Mila
I remember the day I went into labor so very clearly. It's obviously a day I'll never forget, right up until my sweet sweet epidural started really kicking in. Then things got a little hazy and from that point on, it was one big blur until the moment our little girl arrived. I didn't know how badly I wanted a birth photographer until I had one and luckily the amazingly talented photographer was there on the most important day of our lives. Having Courtney capture those moments that I never want to forget was perhaps the one piece of advice I give to expecting couples. It doesn't matter your ... read more
